Councils

Welcome to 'Your Grid, Your Say'
Every five years, Jemena, like most other electricity networks, is required by the Australian Energy Regulator to review and submit a new customer electricity pricing and services plan (the 2021-25 Plan).
Throughout this process we’ll be reviewing the types of services we provide and the way we manage and invest in our network to ensure we continue to deliver services efficiently and meet our customers’ needs and expectations.
Planning for the future
On 5 December 2017, we hosted a streetlighting forum with a number of representatives from local governments and VicRoads in our distribution area.
During the session, we held discussions on three main areas:
- What good engagement means to you,
- Your priority topics for engagement with us, and
- How we engage with you going forward.
Based on the topics you prioritised, we then held a second forum at Jemena’s Broadmeadows offices on 24 May 2018.
The three-hour forum provided Councils and VicRoads with an opportunity to:
- Meet key members of the Jemena team,
- Better understand the price review process and timelines,
- Gain further clarity on our operation, maintenance and replacement (OMR) charges for public lighting, and the OMR pricing model,
- Discuss potential changes to OMR charges, likely classification of public lighting services by the AER, LED lighting for major roads, decorative streetlight pole types for minor road lighting and web based tools and technology for locating streetlights and reporting faults, and
- Provide feedback, ask questions, or present ideas or concerns.

Next steps
Jemena to:
1. Put forward a formal proposal for decorative pole options in writing and give each council the opportunity to review and respond,
2. Arrange logins and training (if required) for council and VicRoads for JEN viewer
3. Invite councils and VicRoads to discuss network planning, demand management and future energy network by August 2018, and
4. Determine indicative costs for Smart Lighting and share with councils and VicRoads by September 2018,
The detailed summary of the street lighting forum can be found under the ‘Documents’ section on the right of this page
